Please read this NSS Information carefully

The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a public service programme of the Government of India. It is conducted by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. The scheme was launched on Mahatma Gandhi’s birth centenary year in 1969. The motto of the scheme is “not me but you”. The aim of the scheme is to develop students’ personality through community service. The NSS Unit of Vedanta College, Kolkata was founded in 2022.

On the occasion of Diwali and Christmas, two separate events titled ‘Joy of Giving’ were organised wherein the volunteers collected clothes, bed sheets, mosquito nets and books from the students, teachers and the non-teaching staff of the College and distributed them among the poor.

On 19th October 2022, the volunteers visited the collection centre of Goonj and took part in the sorting process, preparation of distribution kits and loading of distribution kits in the truck.

A blood donation camp was organised on 6th May 2023 in association with the College of Medicine and Sagore Dutta Hospital. 25 people donated blood in that camp.

A free dental check-up was organised on 26th September 2023 in association with Dr. R. Ahmed Dental College and Hospital. 83 people, including students and staff of the College and people from the local community, donated blood in that camp.
